She seems, hmm, more well adjusted as a woman? I don't know if that's the best way of phrasing it, but less like she has to prove herself by butting heads with everyone. I mean, the whole contrary insubordination streak is still joyously present but it seems to be balanced by more self confidence, which turns it a bit more playful. And her relationship with Gard! YES!
...she's going to be a terrible moll. I think Marcone is a brave brave man for putting her in the same social setting as Morelli. Oh boy. *bounces gleefully*
Okay. See, my theory is a lot of Harry's issues with being the 'man's man' and butting heads with everyone come, not just from the totally craptastic childhood, but also from Eb. Eb's not exactly the world's easiest person to get along with and I think Harry's modeled himself after Eb, to a certain point. Eb is his touch point for what's good and right in the world, both magically and otherwise. Which is partially where his old school notions of chivalry, etc. come from. But a girlHarry wouldn't be looking to model herself after Eb as much. She also would be on the other side of Eb's old school male/female dynamic. So rather than trying to live up to these wacky expectations for manhood that Eb gives him, she's busy exceeding what he expects from women. And I think that gives her some more self confidence to start with. If that makes any sense at all...
She is going to be a terrible moll. It'll probably go okay for a little while, and then it's going to crash and burn.
