also as so far as the greens being infertile- I'm pretty sure some of the earlier books (chronologically speaking) hint at the fact that the greens are only infertile b/c of chewing the firestone to burn Thread and that this was used as a precautionary measure b/c in nature firelizard greens rise (to mate) far more often than golds.
