In the stories, all the poor orphan children have fairy godmothers they can call on for help. Margaret Angelica may be a poor orphan, but she doesn't have a fairy godmother - she has a mafia godfather. And whenever she has a problem, or one of her foster families goes bad, or anything else goes wrong - all she has to do is ask, and the Baron shows up and fixes it with extreme prejudice.
(I would prefer this not be Harry/John domestic est. rel, but slashing it up otherwise is fine. Also, if Marcone is a little bit morally ambiguous - he cares about her, and of course he'd never hurt a child, but at the same time it sure doesn't hurt to have someone like that a little bit in his debt. You know, like Lea.)
