So a friend found a video of Adele singing Rolling in the Deep on YouTube. I watch it, and I see:
a) an abandoned mansion;
b) an older, possibly Scandanavian, woman, singing almost a dirge;
c) a non-visible swordswoman, in a room of dust;
d) all sorts of blatant symbology (covered tapestries, destroyed dishes, sea of glasses);
e) oh, and a miniaturized version of a city.

Honestly? I'm not really picky as to specifics. I would love to see a 'story' behind this video - it gives me soooo many questions. Who is that singing? Charity? Sigrun? Molly? To whom? When and why?

b) Um, the singer is Adele. She's, what, 22? Not an older woman, anyway. And also, English.

I agree with you that it's a visually striking video with lots of potential symbolism, just not sure that that's one of them.

I am aware of Adele's age and nationality - it was just something about the way the video was framed that it rang her character as 'older' to me. Was referring to appearance about the video's narrative, not to anything about the singer. Apologies that that wasn't clear.

Saw the vid- I thought it interesting that the first thing the shadowy warrior does is draw a circle, and that s/he appears to be gagged!
