Uh...WoJ may be that Hendricks' first name is Nathan. I actually don't know. I just like thinking that his name is James Hendricks.
Also, oh my god. *headdesk* I managed to accidentally inject evilness and tragedy into my crackfic! I am SO. SORRY. Especially since the OP asked for fluff!
I was just thinking it would be funny if the 'bad, bad wizard' was just inept, and then it would turn out that it was all a plot to get Marcone and Harry together. I wasn't thinking of the Laws or anything...

Okay, does ANYONE have a link to confirmation on this? I really wanted to reveal Hendricks name in Matter of Chicago, but I don't want to get jossed later on on this. Where was this said?
*butts in* only place I've seen it mentioned was in a twitter account of one of his betas in ...october 2008? I'll see if I can find it. I tend to go on Nathan (figuring once I knew 'Frank' felt silly), personally.
I must say, I hope this is some kind of mistake. This totally ruins my stupid joke I was going to do later on... 8( Lemme know if you can find it though? I'd appreciate it.
iirc, Hendricks was eventually changed to just Hendricks in that year for Yuletide, because it was ye olde Word of Jim (...via a beta), and never explicitly stated in canon.
Grrr.... OKAY BUT it's not in the books and until it is, I am totally invoking Death of the Author. Because I like my stupid little joke, dammit. :stamps foot childishly:
Or it's his middle name and he goes by it. Or Nathan is his middle name and the joke got old on paperwork. Or it's your drastically different universe by then, anyway, and little changes help retroactively explain the snowballs that make big changes. Or something.
...And a belated memory that (as I fought the Nathan idea for a while before deciding I was more comfortable writing fic from a point where I was confident in the little and bigger details of the books) I had a twitter conversation with that beta ages after because I'd ignored the Nathan thing to the point where an unrelated comment that Nathan sounded like an accountant's name had turned into me totally forgetting Nathan Hendricks and instead imagining the life of Marcone's-account-Nathan.
Which is to say, amazing the things your forget, which I totally did when looking for that earlier link. Um. Yup.
I cannot imagine Hendricks pulling quintuple duty as Marcone's accountant. Because srsly, there is no amount of money in the world that Marcone could pay him at that point and have it be enough.
It also passed through my mind, that Molly could be in a lot of trouble, but I'm accepting this in the spirit it was intended, no worries! So thank you! :)
This shit only happened when Sigrun took a day off. LOL! Poor Hendricks.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-20 03:11 am (UTC)(link)I really don't know that Jim has ever said what Hendricks' first name is. I don't remember ever hearing about it before this, actually.
