Marcone gets into a hostage situation where he or his men must win a couple of games of cards in order to free the hostages(the children and his people). However, the catch is that all the games are rigged and you must be able to cheat your way to victory.
Harry is their unsuspecting savior.
Rules:Harry doesn't like gambling much(he thinks it's a vice), but learned card tricks from his father and how to cheat from Nick. He's REALLY good at what he does. Marcone is aroused with Harry's set of skills. In order to make it more fair, Harry is somehow restricted from using magic.
...that would be pretty awesome- my only question is this- didn't Harry's dad die when he was 6? How much vis a vis card tricks could he hae learned by then? It could still work though- especially if he picked up additional card tricks in the foster care system before he got picked up by Justin. Just a thought.
I just assumed that since he really only had his dad for company in his first 6 years, he wouldn't really have much to do, but watch and learn when his father's entertaining. I don't think his dad could just leave Harry in a hotel or ask someone to watch over him.
Foster care is a possiblity and there's the fact that Harry knew what his name sakes are(who's he's named after) so it stands to reason that he picked up a few tricks, trying to not be lonely.
Also, before he went to Chicago and after he left Ebe's, maybe he worked random side jobs that allowed him to make use of his skills because he was a bit wary of using magic after DuMorne.
