Yeah. Oh yeah. Who knows just how long it was for him, months, a year or even decades? And after the brutal upheaval of his entire life he would be ripe for the mind twisting, no magic needed just plain old manipulation would, with enough time, do the trick. (but maybe there would be glimpses of the old him here and there.)
